Ultima Bass

Ultima Bass

2/28/08:  Finally realizing the dream of creating a good semi-hollowbody bass has been an exciting trip for Crossover. The prototype is done and in the hands of it's owner in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The goal was a tonal quality that rivaled a full stand-up bass while maintaining the playability of it's smaller brother.

Ultima Pickups

Kent Armstrong custom built the pickups for this model and the comments of John H. from NM say it all:

"The combination of your electronics and the amp tones really create a ton of sound and bass through one little 15” speaker. It has the feeling and sound of a pro setup using 18” speakers with horns. The deep is so deep, you feel it – and soooo clear. No rumble."

Ultima Inlay

The Ultima bass keeps the unique shape of the 'F' holes as modeled after the original guitar.  As always - it's a Crossover setup.

"The detail and workmanship are superb - great care [was] taken to create a complete instrument."

"The feel, the weight, the configuation, the neck. When you play it, you know your holdin' on to something that can take you for a ride - like driving a Corvette or riding a racehorse."

"It may take me a while to learn the knobs and their full effects, but I played it out of my Gallien Kruger 700RB with an Acoustic 301 cabinet (18" Eminence spkr) and its sustain and power rattled the pictures on the wall! AND CLEAN!  Thanks again, for this wonderful instrument..."
